Students in the program take two courses. One is a course in advanced academic English where students engage in formal and informal writing, discussions, and oral presentations. They attend lectures by Harvard professors and visit sites related to the major topics of the course--education, politics, and the environment. The second course offers students a choice of three tracks. The first track is an introduction to computer technology and terminology. The second track is an introduction to programming, using languages like C++, Java, JavaScript, and Perl. The third track is an introduction to multimedia: After learning HTML, Photoshop, Flash, and more, students in this track will produce their own website, with animation, sound, and video.
The College Choices Program helps students make decisions about their academic future. The program sponsors a college fair, a workshop on writing the college application essay, and a talk about college selection.
